Czech & Slovak, yes Slovak, champs hit Hossegor
Czech & Slovak Surfing Champs go off at Les Bourdaines
The 2010 Quiksilver Czech and Slovak Surfing Championships were held in les Bourdaines –Seignosse this past weekend. The 3rd Annual Event was completed in mere perfect 1m offshore conditions and the Mens and ladies finalists were super stoked to be surfing in France and in the finals .
After winning the 2008 title ,Jan Klvana, proved he was still the man to beat by posting some of the highest wave scores throughout the whole event and went on to win his scecond consecutive national title. Last year the event was cancelled due to no waves.
Surfing with 4 stitches in his back footand a winter booty, Jan Klvana continued with his awesome and radical backhand attack and out surfed his fellow national competitors . Second place went to Bretislav Ruby who fell one wave short of a victory and 3rd went to Martin Cerník.
ROXY CHAMPIONSHIP
The Roxy Championship ladies division was spiced with new competitiors: it was a classic blend of new school and old school. It was great to see a half dozen new entries into this years event and how the ladies division had improved from the last years.
The ladies finals was a very closely scored heat with the difference in points being 0.5 points between 1st and second position. Tereza Olivová reclaimed the championship title by choosing the bigger and better set waves in the finals. Second place,Nada Durdová, was a new comer to this event and showed how the level had improved by catching two solid rides in the heat and just missing out of a maiden victory. Third went place to Bohunka Kosová.
