World’s Best Surfers Ready for the Billabong Pico Alto Internacional- Big Wave World Tour Six of the world`s elite Big Wave surfers are arriving to Perú to compete in the Billabong Pico Alto Invitacional 2009- Big Wave Tour’s second stop. TWaves over 30 feet on the wave face are arriving to the Peruvian coast. The air is alive with anticipation for the upcoming swell as the invited international surfers begin to arrive. First in, Diego Medina from Chile, with hopes to further his World Title Quest after his strong second place showing at the first event of the year at his home break Punta de Lobos, Chile. Pete Mel, Maverick`s local extrodanaire and also eager to build on his 3rd place finish in Chile. Pete`s radical style of performance surfing big waves fits perfectly with the long walls he will encounter at Pico Alto. The list of arrivals goes on with South African Grant Baker, current tour leader, and California standout, Greg Long flying in From Capetown later this evening. Rounding out the list tomorrow will be Carlos Burle from Brasil and Hawaii`s Mark Healy. With the international contingency set, local surfers such as two time defending Billabong Pico Alto Champion, Jose Gomez will get a chance to challenge the world`s best in familiar home waters.
